The dental endoscope has been introduced recently for use under the gum to visualize calculus, cavities, cracks and any other problem that can occur hidden from sight. It consists of a 0.99mm-diameter fiber optic endoscope which fits into a periodontal probe. It also has water irrigation which flushes the pocket and keeps the field clear. Magnification ranges from 24X to 46X allowing the visualization of even minute deposits of plaque and calculus. This device has been in use at Dr. Heitman’s for over 10 years.
